The CLVFD holds several special community and fund-raising events throughout the year, usually in connection with our fundraising helper, CL FIRES.

• Memorial Day Weekend Flag Raising -- Join the members of Crystal Lakes VFD as we raise the flags over Basecamp in a ceremony that marks the beginning of the summer season.  This event takes place every year on the Saturday of Memorial Weekend at 9:00 am.
   
• Family Fun Day Independence Day Celebration -- The Sunday following the Red Feather Fireworks celebration (which is the weekend closest to the 4th of July), this community celebration is hosted by CLVFD and CL FIRES, and is our way of giving back to the community.  Held near the Crystal Lakes Basecamp, events include a parade of fire engines and ATVs, an ATV decorating contest, music, food, raffles, and games for the children.    Don't miss the annual Duck Race on Snoopy Pond, always held on a day near the Family Fun Day or the Fun Day itself! 
   
• CLVFD/CL FIRES Garage Sale (formerly the Rummage Sale) -- Held the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend at the fire station, this community garage sale benefits the fire department.  The success of this fundraiser depends on you!  Please donate your unwanted items (collection times are typically every Saturday in August and are publicized via our group email and on Nextdoor) and come enjoy yourself at the sale.  
   
• 3rd Annual Chili & Bread Cookoff -- Saturday, October 4, 2025 -- Our local cooks bring their best breads and chilis for community members to sample and vote on. Keep an eye on our group email and Nextdoor to find out more about how to enter the contest or show up to taste and judge.
